Motor magazine tests MRT and Whiteline MY08 STis

In the October issue of Motor mag, three brand new MY08 Sti's were tested. One had MRT's XB power kit, one had Whiteline's suspension kit, and the other was Subaru's standard press STi.
We (Motor and MRT) took both cars to Goulburn's Wakefield Park raceway to test (independent of any other work).
It was a cold day as we had to be there at 7 am to sneak onto the track prior to another companies booking of the track at 9 am!
Brett, Shaun and Tony drove the three cars from Sydney. . .

Three Cars

First out was Subaru's standard STi to be used as base run. This was the very same car that featured in Motor mags earlier test for "bang for your bucks" so Motor knew what times it had done earlier. Second was whitelines P-28 Sti with its bundle of suspension goodies!

Then Shaun jumped into the MRT FQ08 with its whopping power increase courtesy of MRT's XB power up kit. The feedback from Shaun was immediate (see video) after he drove all three he then did it again, to both check his data as well as more enjoyment!

All the runs were logged and recorded using Motor magazines independent data logger. Effectively both MRT's and Whiteline's car were over 1 second a lap faster than the standard STi and for a track time that's pretty impressive. Add to this the feedback by Sean on how MRT and Whiteline have effectively solved Subaru's "softening" of the MY08 and we are all very happy with the result!

Overall it was a great day as it allowed MRT to showcase the cars both on the track as well as a 4 hour round trip drive to Goulburn and back!

Here is what Motor said:

"In short, a WRX STi with both sets of mods would be a bloody quick car. The combination of MRT's beefy bottom end and mid range performance gains with the sharper handling of the whiteline suspension pack would potentially make it over 2 seconds a lap quicker around Wakefield park. For a comparatively minor $8k spend, that's not a bad return."
