Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone could help me I am about to begin a transplant from my old cb 60 to a cb 70 into a 85 g11r and was after some advice ( anything ) in regards to this job. I understand the drive shafts and engine mounts have to be fabricated but what about fuel pumps? and fuel lines? that sort of thing, and if anyone has done this do you have any pics? or some info on performance gain over the old carby engine? ANY info would be great, thanks.

Hi G11RRR,

I performed this conversion some years ago. A very noticeable difference in performance. With a few basic mods I got 120hp at the wheels.
You will need to modify the drivers side top engine mount & shorten the crossmember. You will also need a surge tank, fuel pump( I used a VL commodore f/pump), fuel lines will need to be changed.Below are the mods I did.
-lightened cb70 flywheel from mrt
-turbo dump pipe from mrt ( If you could get custom made exhaust manifold made ) wrap up the turbo exhaust side & dump pipe all the way till you pass the gearbox with exhaust wrap.
-modified wastegate
-rx7 series 4 intercooler front mounted.
-ems ecu
-2.5" exhaust s.steel mandrel bend exhaust
-shortened the throw on the gearbox lever
-heavy duty radiator with thermo fan
-bakerlite between the the intake manifold & head. You can get this from John R.Turk and you will need to cut it to suit.

A few other mods you can do is...
you could replace the turbo with a laser tx3 spec turbo
increase the size of the throttle body
install LSD
Also put shock absorber rubbers on the hinges of the bonnet to raise it a little. this helped alot to get the hot air out of the engine bay
