Item: Subaru Liberty GX AWD automatic wagon
Location: The Gap, Brisbane
Item Condition: good
Price and Payment Conditions: $6800 ONO - interested to swap for small car plus cash my way.
Extra Info: It has done 175,000 kms.
Have done cam belt replacement at 150,000kms when I got it. At the time, I think I put about $1500 into getting it roadworthy from the previous seller, as I only trusted seeing the repairs myself rather than let him do it. Had replaced windscreen, cam belt, fuel pump, CV joint, brakes I think.
Also have replaced O2 sensor.
Tyres less than 10,000kms old.
Speedo stopped working at one point due to speedo sensor seizing (bloody sensors). Got that fixed, but had already stripped thread inside gearbox. That means at cost of $1200, had speedo gear replaced. Probably drove 100kms while speedo not working.
Mechanic said rest of gearbox was tip-top, so at least had a check-up there.
Also replaced other CV joint.
Front brakes replaced less than 10,000kms ago.
Replaced oil w/ semi synth recommended by Subaru dealer.
New battery purchased 6 months or so ago.
A hose split a month or two ago, so decided to replace, then flush radiator, no leaks from radiator or hoses.
A few bumps over the body (a cricket ball or two), but no major damage.
Also, the window tinting is peeling in spots.
No fade on the silver paintwork at all. It buffs up like new really. However, there are a few scratches and bumps over the bodywork from the last owner.
Got a small chip in windscreen from escaping the hail a while (month or so) back, but got repaired straight away.
Bloody huge rear space for a 4 cylinder car and has decent pickup for an auto 4-cylinder engine. It is a 2.2L engine, reaching near 100kw and 190Nm as standard.
Auto transmission feels like new, should last as long as the engine does. This car, as with most Liberty's, will probably go for another 200,000kms before anything really serious happens.
Hums away nicely, can cruise at 50kph, but can also cruise very comfortably at 120kph - expecially with the cruise-control! Cruise control as standard, works a treat for those trips on the M1.
It's got front speaker splits as standard, got power antenna that works fine.
Air con is cold and comes on fast, as does heat.
Disc-brakes all round using Bendex 4WD pads.
Power mirrors and power windows on all four doors.
Got an aftermarket remote for the central locking - works great.
It's got the ABS and the dual airbags which were optional.
Nothing in the engine bay has been tampered with, only things looking different are the Splitfire spark leads (around $130 from Repco). Funny thing is that it takes standard Commodore air filters, how about that!?
Also got Sony CD head unit.
I tried to get rwc a few months back when I was thinking of selling it, and all failed items (tyres, oil leaks) have been since repaired. I'll take it back to mechanic for a second go to see if anything has changed, when someone is interested in buying.
Apart from the few troubles that have totally been worth it, this car has been great to me. After my Integra, which I thought was tops, this seems like a bit of a luxury car. Looks very smart, inside and out, and does everything you need it to for one guy with a bunch of luggage, going to the golf or taking the family out.
Reason for Selling: I want a smaller car now, no need for spacious wagon. I'd like to get a cheap runabout now as I need some cash for starting the new family, a small family that is. :P
